My all time fave chinese is in Bournemouth - The Mandarin - its lovely, but you need to book at least a fortnight in advance, as Mr Frizz and I have been disappointed before when we came for a weekend visit a while back and had not booked.

I have heard from Divadee and others, who live in Bournemouth, that The Eye of the Tiger indian is very good.

MY first ever trip to Bournemouth, was to collect a vehicle, on the hottest Saturday of last summer!

Plenty of traffic going there too - but I was surprised at how much greenery they have in the area - never seen so many trees in a seaside town!!

Could only find one chip shop, HarryRamsdens on the seafront. No wonder it's won the award of seving the most customers in a season, of all take aways (or something like that...DELICIOUS!!

    Njoy!!

  • avoid the family restaurant/pub at the top of the complex on the front (can't remember it's name). When i went had mixed grill tucked in without leven ooking at it, very bad mistake as it wasn't cooked properly - had food poisoning for a week.

Table weren't being cleaned often, either.

The Chinese on the side of this complex was very good when i went.

There was a topic either on this board or maybe the days out board asking for Restaurant recommendations in Bournemouth, use the search for Bournemouth in the title, sure it was in the last 3/4 months, i know a few were mentioned on there

Can anybody please help with car parking at the airport. We ary flying out for 2 weeks end July. We got very cheap flights but car parking is £6.50 per day. That is 15 days @ £6.50 per day, = £97.50. Is there a cheaper way? We would consider parking close and booking a Taxi or getting the bus. Please help, Ta Robert

The best chinese in Bournemouth is the Noble House http://www.noble-house.co.uk/ and fairly reasonable too for the area.

For must dos, see http://www.bournemouth.co.uk/ as Dawn rightly said.

The Oceanarium (http://www.oceanarium.co.uk/) would be good and if you get the chance, eat at the West Beach restaurant, which is right on the beach and is lovely: http://www.west-beach.co.uk/ Thursday nights in August is Jazz night too.

While you're in the area, if you can, get out to Monkey World (http://www.monkeyworld.co.uk/main.php) cos that's cool too.

All the ideas in the previous post are great! It's also close to the New Forest which has loads of things to do.

Westbeach is my favourite restaurant and I would definitely book before you go on holiday as it is VERY popular.

Also the fireworks on Friday night are definitely worth a shot, if you can walk to the beach from where you stay it will help as traffic can be a nightmare on these nights, including taxis. The last one of the season (just before the kids go back) is usually two simultaneous sets, one on Bournemouth pier, one on Bournemouth pier.Sit on the beach with a beer if you get there early and enjoy!
Annabeth Charlotte arrived on 7th February 2008, 2.5 weeks early :D
