Today I be mostly messing about...

Options
Hi

Today I have done some serious stuff, and played Microsoft Solitaire and Backgammon.

However Solitaire has annoyed me so I have uninstalled it.

Then noticed that today I have KNOWINGLY installed CCleaner 5.27 and LibreOffice 5.3, but found that Groove Music installed itself behind my back. AAnd OneNote yesterday.

A fresh install of something I have previously removed is reprehensible, and time consuming to remove again and surely means I have no effective security with WinX.

Just a bit of a rant.

Good grief! Is that "intended" behaviour in Windows 10?

So glad I stuck with Windows 7.

Were they not drive by's when you installed ccleaner or libre ??
Sometimes there are little tiny "also install xxxx" boxes you have to untick ..
Or sometimes you have to choose a "custom" install and the only customisation is that you can turn off additional installs ..

BTW, onenote is part of office, or the office trial/nag thing that is part of W10

These are Microsoft Store apps - MS will claim they are "standard install" apps. I wouldn't personally lose any sleep over it. Others may disagree.
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

I get annoyed when I get a "bankrupt" playing Wheel of Fortune and usually abandon the game in a huff.

Of course we know it is all a virtual reality but still we get sucked in and take it (a little) too seriously. Should really know better.

    Hi

Drive by, no I do custom installs usually.

Also I had a go at purging the registry of "solitaire, xbox, onenote, people" and other assorted unpleasant words.

I will wait and see what gets repaired/replaced in the fullness of time.

Sometimes when you install software it installs other things unless you ensure you either tick or untick certain boxes. I know ccleaner installs certain things if you don't make sure it doesn't.

use powershell to remove the crap eg .....
    Get-AppxPackage -Allusers Microsoft.XboxApp | Remove-AppxPackage

Messing about with the registry is likely to leave a mess, unless you have restore points and backups(my opinion only, since I don't often practise what I preach )

Win10 does this it is anti trust behaviour, it re-installs apps, it says it had a problem with your player and puts it's own as default.

It does this because if you use Groove Microsoft makes money.

I have dual boot with W10/W7 and I am staying with 7 in my main machine.

I have disabled a lot on win10 and installed 3rd party apps to get it to behave itself.
