As others have said, if you feel uncomfortable about her then don't proceed.
However, her behaviour isn't all that odd. Many people are hugely uncomfortable with strangers in their home and she may have been just as suspicious of you (arriving as a group of 4 unannounced) as you were of her.
As a several time seller, I must admit I never warmed to viewers who came mob handed on a first visit especially without prior notice that they would be a large group and why. It does go against the grain somewhat opening your home up to complete strangers when we are raised to be security and safety conscious, even though its a necessary evil.
After being taken aback once or twice, I (also usually a woman on her own in the house) took to positioning myself by the front door so noone could get past me with the family silver lol and also so I had an escape route.
And I'm not unduly stressy or anything, just trying to put across the feeling of uncertainty when your home is 'invaded'0 -
I agree that she's probably just being cautious about theft. It's a classic distraction technique, one visitor keeps her talking in one room whilst another looks for valuables elsewhere. Anyone could ring up an estate agent and arrange a viewing under a false name.0

Thank you guys - youve made me feel much more at ease about this request!
Maybe it was a bit rude of me not to consider that she would have been taken aback - like you say - it is her home and we are strangers! Im so glad because we literally LOVE the house xWins over 4 years - Miley Cyrus meet and greet, 150 Kabuto noodles, chocolate gateaux, pack of Stabilo pens, 2 night stay in Harrogate, VIP Download Festival passes, 4 night Barcelona Holiday, 7 nights in PortAventura, Salou! £500 ASOS voucher.0 -

Holy Moly - dont be too shy about your opinion - tell me what you really think. No need to be mean really is there I was just asking peoples opinion in what I thought was a friendly forum. I would like my parents opinion before I spend £150,000 on a house. Didnt realise that was such a bad thing!
Thank you so much for your delightful opinion
Look at it from the sellers POV, I can see why she would come across as weird when faced with 4 people at the door wanting to look around the house.
I also understand why you wanted a second opinion so brought your parents.
You need to decide if you like the house or would you rather continue looking for something else.0 -

I'd have to agree ( I'm a female btw )
I bought my first home without my partner being along for the first viewing. After I had decided it was a goer, I asked if I could then come back over the weekend with partner as I was very interested
Only then did I bother them with two of us, and I never ever thought of asking parents and inlaws in for a view after. Indeed we only went back as a couple once before exchange , and that was to take plumber and electrician along and measure up whilst we were at it
And again, when we sold, never had any couples bringing the family0 -

Pay no attention, there are lots of people on here with chips on their shoulders and too much time on their hands.0
