Changing phone number

So how easy (or not) is it? I would like to change my home phone number, I have scoured Talktalk's (who we're with) website and also BT's and can't find any info at all.
I'd like to know if/or how much this would cost and if it's a simple procedure?

If you pay your line rental to BT they will change your home telephone number free of charge. If you have ADSL you may need to contact your ISP to let them know whats happening..
No idea about TalkTalk though..
