Garage Refund advice please

I bought my car in January 2015 and put down a 2k deposit, every 3 months I have had problems with the oil warning light coming on.
It has now been back into their service dept 8 times.
They have now said to me to pop in and see them later and they will look into getting me out of my car loan.
The problem is I owe just over 3,000 on the car but if I was to buy my car today from a garage it would cost me closer to 5,000
What do I accept from them, am I being reasonable to ask for the 5k otherwise I have lost my deposit for the next car.
Thanks

Why? Does it just need topped up? Do you put it up to 'MAX' each time? What car is it? How many miles do you drive in 3 months? Plenty of cars burn oil, and manufacturers have tolerances for how much they allow to burn. Checking and possibly topping up your oil is STILL part of motoring.

As an example Audi consider 0.5 litres of oil per 1000 kilometres (about 650 miles) normal.

If you do fairly high mileage this could be just normal topping up your car needs. Some cars burn even more oil than this.

Sadly you don't give the make and model or say what kind of mileage you are doing so nobody can accurately say if this is normal or a fault.

You might find checking it every week, and topping up if nessesary, stops this 3 monthly problem . .
  • I would have thought that if the problem was just a low oil level then the garage would have advised the OP to check it regularly and top it up.

As for 'getting the OP out of their car loan', this is surely car sales speak for 'getting you into another car loan'?

Thanks, it is the sensors in the car that is faulty not the oil level.
I just wanted advice on what to expect and hopefully get from the garage
