You can definitely switch and keep your old account open however all payments and all direct debits will be switched to the new account and any balance transferred over
your old account will remain open with no balance and no direct debits etc - everything will have been transferred to the new account
:huh::huh:Also TSB:
If you don’t want to switch everything
The Partial Transfer Service allows you to choose which payment arrangements you would like to transfer to your TSB account. It also gives you the option to leave your old account open..0 -
definately right because:
1. I have done it recenty and
2. they say so its all over google - you cant use the 7 day CASS service but you can switch using the slower method eg Nationwide:
Don't want to close your existing account?
Partial switch option via the Current Account Switch Service
You can keep your old account open and still transfer payments to a new or existing Nationwide account through the switching process. We call this a partial switch.

As said, you are unlikely to get any switching bonus though
The balance will not transfer, you have to do this yourself, it only transfers direct debits and standing orders, and only the ones you tell them to transfer, it wont transfer any electronic payments which are set up, which would be transferred if you do a full switch using CASS.0 -
I would say easiest thing to do is open second account at first bank. Transfer those direct debits to new account you want to switch. Wait for a payments to go out and then switch.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

The OP asked: "I am very much a noob when it comes to switching! If the process is automatic and conducted by your new bank, is it still possible to switch without transferring all the incomings and outgoings and effectively keeping the old account open?"
the answer is Yes, and not No.0 -
The answer is Maybe but it depends on whether the bank(s) concerned support it! You can't legitimately extrapolate your experience with one bank and claim that it means that all the others are the same, and we don't know who OP wants to switch from and to....The OP asked: "I am very much a noob when it comes to switching!
