Helppp

I'm trying to set up the Netgear Starter Box but I'm in trouble already.

First it said mut the USB Adapter into my desktop PC and installe the software, even though I don't need the adapter I did this. It then brought up the settings box but the taskbar icon was red so it wasn't connected which I know as the modem router thing isn't even plugged in yet. i don't understand where to put all the cables. I don't know what to plug into the modem/router. I have put in the Power cable. I have another cable with the filter attached and says modem and phone on the filter. The cable for the router is plugged into the modem section and I will put my phoneline into the phone section(obviously). Which cable do I plug into the usb on my PC? The cables I have left over is a normal phone extension one and I double usb.

Had a thought, should the cable from the modem marked adsl go into the back of the pc? I have it plugged into the phone filter?

  • phone point - filter - phone lead -- router port for phone lead

router port 1 or 2/3/4 -- ethernet cable -- ethernet port on pc.

Thought you weren't getting the usb adapter with it?

Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • the usb adapter just came with it. I am following the set guide and it's asking me to plug in the ethernet cable. Dosen't this look like the one similar to the ADSL cable but the same on both ends? If it is the only cables I now have are USB ones.

  • Yep got one of those but I have it plugged into the modem bit of the filter and the other end going to the router into the adsl hole. But it's saying I should have another one to out into the back of my pc and going to another hole int the back of the router. Am I reading this wrong Should I have two cable s with ends like this?

  • So I should have two cables like that with one just having slightly bigger end bits.

The cables I have is one like the one you posted that fits into the filter and a male/female USB cable and a telephone extension. I think the ethernet cable might be missing then?

  • I have one cable like the picture you show, a male/female USB cable and a telephone ext cable. I think the ethernet one might be missing if I should have two that have the same type of ends

The modem cable that you show is the one I have plugged into the filter and the adsl space on the modem
