Virgin's "line rental deal"

I have a package of phone, TV and broadband with Virgin. So when I read that they are freezing line rental for over 65's at £17.99 a month, I contacted them. Only to be told that this only applies to look with phone line only an not to those who pay for a full package. Also told that I would need to pay a year upfront in any event.
This "deal" is grossly unfair, as they are giving the reduction to those who already pay the least and snubbing their main customer base, unless they pay a year upfront.
Comments please.

The companies that still offer line rental saver (ie cheaper line), do this by having the payment in advance. They are businesses and have no reason to give you something for nothing.

I would have thought anyone could get it for that price if they pay in advance. £19 currently.
