I need some help
In the past, i have had 2 car insurance policies. Both of them I have been the policyholder
First policy i have no claims and 4 years NCB , I have been the policyholder and main driver, the other policy I have 2 years NCB and then a previous claim in 2016 non-fault. I have been the policyholder but wife was the main driver.
I am insuring 2 x new cars, first car i will be main driver and policyholder (will be using the 4 years NCB) and the second car the wife will be the policy holder and will be main driver (as i understand it i will need to start from the beginning with her in regards to NCB) but do i have to disclose the claim in both of the new insurance policies or just one?
Am i making sense?

Policy 1 (in your name) - declare accident for policyholder (i.e. you)
Policy 2 (in wifes name) - declare accident for additional driver (i.e. you)All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -
i wont be the additional driver on her policy0

In that case (assuming that you were the driver involved in the claim) then you would not need to declare it on your wifes policy..All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -
It's a shame your wife didn't insure her car in her own name from the get-go - you now have more NCD than you know what to do with, and she has none, which is daft.
Having said that, most insurers will offer an introductory bonus of around 30% to people who have been named drivers on someone else's policy but are now buying insurance in their own name.
It's interesting that you say 'I will have to start again from the beginning with her as regards NCD' - no, she will have to start again from the beginning. It will be her policy, in her name.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
Unfortunately, MY finances couldn't stretch to paying for her policy
In hindsight it would have been cheaper.0 -
apologies for being thick but even though i am not insuring the new car against the policy in which i had the claim in, i still need to disclose it?
I was under the assumption that i had 4 years NCB and had no claims under that policy, or does it not work like that, you need to disclose all claims under all policies?0 -
Yes you will need to disclose the claim under all policies where you are the named driver.
If the claim was in the other car then it won't affect your 4 years but it still has to be noted under your driving history.0
