What's the law please? Flashing LED bicycle lights.

I currently use a red LED rear light (it does have the ability to flash, but I don't use it) and red reflector, a white LED front light (ditto) and white reflector, white wheel reflectors and a pair of flashing valve caps on the tyres, plus a reflective band (from Poundland) strapped around my bag (which is usually worn on my back) and, so far, no problems - in fact, the only accidents I've had are when someone is cycling on the wrong side of the cycle path that covers part of the route to work, causing me to swerve at the last minute, or when someone is driving off a petrol station forecourt and doesn't look both ways before pulling out into traffic, thereby not taking into account the cycle path that crosses the forecourt exit - and as both of those were in daylight, more lights would have been useless!
Good for you for thinking about lights - I am constantly amazed by the number of people I encounter who have nothing on their bike, not even the required by law reflectors, and who wonder why they get hooted at by drivers (and fellow cyclists:D ) who saw them just in time...
Au Res.,
