Does anyone else find Gorilla glue to be really rubbish?

Had to use it as an emergency fix for some shoes recently and to be honest i wasn't impressed.
I imagined it would find that job quite easy but I found it really messy to use and dried like expanding foam which ultimately didnt hold particularly well for such a simple job.

Not really convinced its suitable for the 'toughest jobs on earth'

Honestly it's the same as every other glue. The important thing is to select the right glue for the job. PVA/Superglue/Epoxy . Doesn't really matter which brand

  • I'm surprised its so widely available. I never realised gorillas were so fragile.

I had similar experience of this recently, used it to glue a snapped plastic earthing pin back on the plug for charging my drill... didn't last long and as you say it seems to expand to a bit of a foamy mess. I used some Loctite on it previously which did a much better job.

I think this is one of those situations where marketing carries the product.

I must admit, the tape is really good. I had some holding some plastic membrane up against plaster walls for a couple of months open to the elements with no problems... did a decent job.

    Overpriced branding........
  • There are different types of Gorilla glue, some of you have used the expanding/foaming version that it designed to fill gaps, use the right glue for the job & you might find it doesn't fail
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
  • I found gorilla glue expoxy brilliant,

Glued rear boot cover blind thing.... Was no area to overlap and glue... But it's still good 9 months later.. and is subject to near daily use.

As others have said.. the right glue for the job is what counts..... Although thsts often difficult to work out!!
  • Used the superglue found it rubbish. I used the tape they did and its a lot better than ducktape abet not as wide and cost a lot more for a small size but definitely better. I have the pva wood glue they do as well used it a few times cant say its much better than normal wood glue only got it because it was its okay for external use
