It has occurred to us it would be nice to rent an apartment in Spain for 4 weeks and June sounds a good month. We are not worried about being on a complex or having a swimming pool, but it must be in walking distance( say 20 minutes) of a bus route, shops, restaurants and the sea.We were looking to pay about 350 euros a week. We want a one bed room apartment that is modern, clean and has a decent sized lounge. Outside space either a terrace or good sized balcony is essential. we are fairly open to which cost in Spain as long as it has good transport links and is not more than a 75 ninute transfer from an airport than is served by flight from Gatwick. We are led to believe we would get a reduction on the weekly price for a 4 week stay. This would be purely for a holiday we have no intention of living in Spain. Is all this achievable. Any suggestions, ideas will we welcome
  • After watching a Place In The sun television programme I am sure you will have to pay more to rent an apartment on a complex that has a swimming pool.nice grounds and other facilities to cover the service charges which can be quite high. I would have thought you should be able to rent a one bedroom apartment with a terrace or balcony for a figure of between 350 and 400 euros a week for a 4 week stay provided it was not in the school holiday period and you are flexible in which "Costa" the property is located. as long as it is walking distance of the sea, shops etc. .Maybe someone who reads this post will have actually rented a property and give you some idea of the cost.
  • The idea is to test the Ex Pat life.

You won't, as you know you are coming home after an extended holiday.

If I were to move abroad again I would again make the decision not to mix with an ex-pat community.

You must also know that post 'brexit' nobody knows what's going to happen to UK citizens living in certain countries in the EU. (One of the reasons those who can are now getting dual nationality).

How's your Spanish, by the way.

Is 350 Euro a week for a nice one bedroom apartment on the coast realistic if staying 4 weeks purely as a holiday.

I spent 4 months in Spain near Torre del mar last winter ( 2015/16) I used Airbnb and was happy although I have realised that there are cheaper alternatives available.

I did enjoy it although the nearest place on the coast with any life was Torrox .

The weather last year was a lot better than this year but remember to ensure that you have heating as the evening/ night can be cold. ( to be fair I did choose a mountainside white walled andalusian town) .

I started working full time again so didn't have the time off this winter so when I had a week last month I went to Gran Canaria for a week where it was a lot warmer but lees scenic than Andalusia.

I paid considerably less for a two bedroom apartment with balcony, a ten to fifteen minute walk from the beach. Though I do have local contacts.
Some crazy prices being mentioned here. Long term, a one bedroom apartment was quoted at around 400€ per month. Prices may have changed, but I'm sure by not that much.
This being in the area of Manilva.

It sounds a good idea but there are so many scams where they take your money and there is no apartment. How do I ensure I go through a company or individual that is reputable and you get what you pay for.
