Is there a legal distance that cookers and sinks have to be?

No but in a course in Kitchen planning I did ( another v weak string in my bow LOL) there is a recommended distance between the fridge/freezer & oven as of course the heat from the oven can raise the temp in the fridge and lead to contamination. Potentially of course.
There is whats called the "working traingle" http://www.callde.co.uk/the_work_triangle.asp quite a basic explaination of it here.
As far as i know its more a practical issue ( ie its easier to use a kitchen when the triangle is planned effectively - ie sink not down the other side of the room) as opposed to any planning legislation. However, I look forward to any new info on this one if it exists- I do like to be proven wrong on points such as this:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
There's no need to get all technical lynz and there is nothing illegal about it bettie.
It just looks !!!!!!dolce vita's stock reply templates
#1. The people that run these "sell your house and rent back" companies are generally lying thieves and are best avoided
#2. This time next year house prices in general will be lower than they are now
#3. Cheap houses are a good thing not a bad thing0 -
You need 300mm between a cooker and anything apart from worktop for safety.
You need 700mm above before you hit any wall units. (geek alert
)
It wouldn't have taken a genius to put the cooker on the left of that pic.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Yes, looks !!!!!! ... and you'd want/need space either side of the hob to put stuff ready to put on, or rest stuff you've taken off.
In my last house I had 2 sockets UNDER the sink ... in direct line of the washing machine join spout, so if that had ever come adrift water will have peed all over the sockets. Had them removed!
And in my utility the sink was really close to 3 sockets, so when I replaced the sink, I swapped it round so the sink was furthest from the sockets (extra length of the drainer).
Kitchen planners are all pants in my opinion.
I have my own little way of doing things - and it certainly doesn't include an annoying triangle!0 -
You're likely to end up leaning over the cooker to get to the kettle (or whatever you put in that corner.
There's no draining board attached to the sink - a pet bug bear of mine.
There's very little space to pile up dishes for washing on the left of the sink, means you have to pile up dishes on the right, moving them past the tap which will be directly in the way. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd have to start using plastic to stop me breaking things.
!!!!!! layout."Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.

No but it might have cost more:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

!!!!!! layout.
Very similar to the one in the house we currently rent :wall:
No end of frustration, theres literally nowhere to stack dirty pots aside from a ledge no more than 15cm accross, cant even put a pan on it. So once weve eaten, pans have to go in the sink. then when im washing up they have to go on the sides, scattering bacteria all over the shop. Very poor layout. I can only suspect that the kitchen was wacked in by someone who didnt intend to cook in there
You say theres no point in having a work triangle, but if you are an avid cook as I am, and you dont have one, preparing food becomes tremendously frustrating in a badly designed kitchen _pale_:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? That must be the worst designed kitchen i have ever seen!0

I bet it was like that before they got a new kitchen, the cooker was prob freestanding and they just replicated it in the new design. Some people have no imagination at all. You'd be surprised at how many people don't bother to use the blatant opportunity to change things.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I agree with Lynz on the triangle thing - I think it got a lot of mention on Locationx3, after which I realised my triangle was more of a straight line. I hated cooking in our old house, it felt like chasing your own tail. Also the cutlery drawer was miles from the sink, so drying up cutlery felt like a school sports race, backwards and forwards...
What on earth are you supposed to do without a draining board?!0
