GREENWOODS finance

Options
Hi all,
looking for some advice if possible. Myself and my partner are looking into getting a mortgage however I took a loan out for my mum almost 4 years ago from Greenwood finance, I signed the paperwork and provided my address details etc which I am not disputing however the payments were never collected from my address but my mums (my address was on the paperwork but no agent ever knocked) My mum failed to make payments and the loan went to default which is now causing a problem on us getting a mortgage (and this reason only ) Upon finding out about the default I paid what they requested and it is now showing as settles/partially settled with a NOC on(default in March & settled July)

My question is were Greenwoods legally allowed to knock at my mums address for the payment & not mine? Granted I signed the paperwork & my mum should have made me aware she wasn't making the payments but she didn't leaving me in the situation I am now. My thinking is if an agent had knocked at my address i'd have known at an earlier stage about the missing payments and could have resolved it earlier than going to default. I just want it off my credit file as it's preventing us getting out dream home.

Any help is greatly appreciated !!!!!

  • How did they get your mother's address and why did they go there?
  • My mum took out a loan also but both were for her which the agent knew, 1 obviously in my name with my address & details the other with her address & details but both payments to be paid by my mum. I think i'm clutching at straws but it's there for another 2 years on my credit file which is going to be a problem getting a 95% mortgage

Dont think you will get anywhere with that one, you presumably knew that payments should have been made so why didnt you enquire when the agent didnt turn up once in several years at your doorstep to collect?

  • I didn't know payments weren't being made until I received a letter through the door. If payments were not being made at my mum's address I would have thought they'd have gotten in touch before it moving to a default
