How to dry out a KA

My fors KA cabriolet has got a roof which has not survived well this winter. Add that to the fact that I haven't driven it (am using my Dads car) as the KA's heating stopped working.
I now have a new job and will not need the KA at all. It is covered in mould inside, although it wipes off pretty easily. MOT runs out in April. What can I do to dry the car out so I can at least sell it for a couple of 100?
It is from 2008 I believe 78k on the clock - mechanically sound although will need to charge battery up (battery is only 6 months old so won't be a problem).
Or just scrap it?

Warm and sunny day, roof down.

Or just put it on eBay as is, with all faults declared, starting at 99p, with a reserve of what the scrap man will pay you for collecting it.
  • Yes I think I'll have more chance of selling in on ebay than a warm sunny day before April!
What is a reasonable cost for a car to be scrapped? Assuming they can collect it?

Scrap cars are somewhere about £40 delivered. You'd be lucky to get anything for it collected. That said, call around as they might even you more.
If it runs, then you'd be much better delivering it to a scrap yard, but you should be able to sell it on eBay for a lot more than that to someone who wants to restore it or salvage parts.

Could you borrow a dehumidifier for a couple of days and park the car on a drive with the dehumidifier plugged in and inside the car.

Shot roof and heater not working on a drop top is not going to make it attractive for resale so don't spend a lot dying it out. What's the state of play with the inevitable rust.

Take any floor mats out and leave it parked with the roof and windows open whenever possible. Put a cover over it when it rains.

Even at 6 months old, if the battery has been allowed to run flat for an extended period of time, then it's ruined.

^ I left a car standing for over a year. After charging the battery it was fine for the following month of irregular use. The ops battery should be fine for what she intends to do.
  • Inevitable rust was all fixed with the last MOT - at huge cost so not doing that again. I think it's pretty much ruined to be honest - I'll try and sell it on ebay as someone might want it. If not - to the scrap yard as I imagine that the rust will have returned due to it not being driven and being wet.

There is no need to scrap a running car, just list all its faults and put it on eBay, esp if there is some MOT remaining.

Last years rust repairs should still be ok and unaffected by a damp interior. Charge the battery and drive it a bit if you are insured. Dry and clean the interior then list it on ebay. You can scrap it later if no-one buys it.
