Dart charge

Just received a bill for £105 plus £2.50 for dart charge. Made a trip on 19 December and paid it on 23 December, apparently the system wouldn't except my payment in arrears so basically my next trip has been paid for and I'm left with a big bill I can't pay. Any advice?

You have up to midnight the day after crossing to pay the charge, why do you think you can decide when to pay?
There are signs for miles and miles on the overhead gantries telling you, personally I don't think you will have a leg to stand on.
How much will I be fined if I forget to pay: The penalty charges are as follows:
Non-payment after one day: £70.00
Reduced to £35.00 if paid in 14 days
Increased to £105.00 if not paid within 28 days
Penalty charge is payable for each use of the crossing, so a return trip could cost up to £210.000
