Family Travel insurance query

Hi for our family holiday this year my partner & son are flying out to spain and then a few days later flying to the canaries and a few days later i am flying to the canaries directly.
My query is for the travel insurance, do I buy a family policy to start when they fly out and this will cover us all or do i need to buy separate policies?
If we had separate policies and something happened, could they make me fly back on my own?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The wording of an annual family policy will answer your question.
You need to study small print before buying!0 -
We use a family annual policy from AA and this will cover you all from date you start it.
Had to claim on it once for doctors abroad and paid out fine so can recommend them though don't know if they are the cheapest. When I looked up recently for worldwide single trip cost more than annual, very bizarre so worth getting annual quotes too.0 -
Yes a family annual multi-trip policy sounds like the best option. Usually, there are only restrictions on your children travelling alone, not you the parent. But, read to check.
And start your annual multi-trip policy immediately, so you have cancellation cover.
As to Economics question - annual multi-trip rates use assumptions about the proportion of your trips that will be in say Spain or the USA. There is an inevitable crossover where a "known" longer worldwide trip which is rated precisely for that known more expensive trip destination / duration will be priced higher than annual multi-trip trip.I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.0 -
Thank you I will have a look into annual policies instead!
Thanks for all your replies ;-)0
