Hi All,
This is my first post to the MSE forum, so please excuse me if I have not posted it correctly. Please point me to any existing posts which is similar to mine.
I shared a flat between 2008 & 2012 with someone who share the same DOB! and have quite similar name (e.g. - my name is ‘Masum Vwxyz’ and his name is ‘Md Masum Vwxyz’). I moved out of that shared address in 2012 and the other person moved out in 2014.
I have noticed the other person’s account information on my Experian credit report back in 2010 when I requested Experian to remove, however they were unable to help and after 3 months of paid membership they decided that they can’t remove the information and refunded me the fee.
Over the years I moved to a new address and the other person moved address twice, both of his addresses are now liked to my account. Further to that he recently got married and probably opened a joint account along with his wife, since then my Financial Association shows his wife’s name alongside mine.
My concern is, his borrowing habit, badly managed finance and missed payments are affecting my credit score. My report shows Credit Cards and Accounts from Banks and Telecom providers which I have never dealt with.
Could you please advise me on who can I get in touch with to remove those unwanted information (Address, Financial association and Accounts). As I do not have accounts with some of the companies (Banks), they might not even assist me with this.
Your advice will be highly appreciated.
Best regards,
Masum

The best place to start would be to contact the three main UK agencies which provide credit files:
Equifax
Experian
Callcredit
Although I'd advise checking your reports from the three companies first because you may not necessarily be having the same issue with all of them.
You really need to push hard though because this is a bad error. Although you may need to provide a lot of evidence to back up your case, because on the face of it, the chances of sharing a flat with someone who has an identical DOB and near-identical name is fairly remote. They aren't just going to believe you because you say so.0
