Default on arrangement credit card

Hi everyone,
I would like some advice please.
I got myself in a lot of credit card debt afew years ago, I paid it all off about 3 years ago as I was on an arrangement with CCCS (now Stepchange).
I paid more when I could and less when I couldn't. I had about 10k worth of debt on my mbma account (I had other cards and paid proportionately each month according to the de % debt) , I got down to the last £800 on this card but had to drop my payment and it fell under the min they wanted me to pay so they put a default on my account. I paid the remainder off and cleared all my debt on all my cards!
This is now causing me loads of problems because of the default.
My question is considering I had paid over 90% of the debt off at this point, if I wrote to mbma would they remove the default. I feel I have been penalised. Has anyone ever done this before?
Comments please (be nice!)

No, as you defaulted on the account.
But if you feel it should have been applied earlier, you could ask them to look at that.0
