Went to DFS for corner sofa. Sales advisor convinced me that two sofas-a 2 and a 3 seater would be better for space available in lounge. Ok. Fine. It's their expertise. sofas arrived. Do not fit well. A corner would have been best. DFS now not interested. Do I have any rights as a consumer? Many thanks

No. I assume that you evenrually agreed with them and signed the order form? If you wanted a corner unit then you should have stuck to your guns and ordered a corner unit. Has the salesman been into your living room to actually know what would be best?

Salesman offers advice, what you do with that advice is up to you.0

And have you your original requirements in writing and the salesmans responses given to you in writing?
And of those written requirements was one that it fitted your room once installed, to your satisfaction?
And did the salesman agree to all that?
Otherwise - and what i'm really saying - you havent a pups chance.0 -
You get advice and you must of liked the idea then you freely placed the order,so you get it delivered you don't like it and you wonder if you have any consumer rights.
Absolute joke of a thread.:mad:0 -
The sales advisor could only go off the information you have given as to the size, shape and layout of the room you want it in, they can then advise from there but it is up to you do double check all measurements to ensure it will fit properly.
In some rooms two separate units are more suitable and you can move them around more freely and alter their positioning. In other rooms there is only really one way a suite can go in and sometimes a corner suite makes batter use of that space to give maximum seating but they are less adaptable if or when you want to move furniture around.
It would have been up to you to decide which met your needs the best.0 -
I hate it when salesman from dfs force sofas on people against there will.0

The salesman is in it for commission, not to provide the best advice to the customer.
DFS sofas do have a reputation for falling apart quickly, so you shouldn't have to live with it for long.0 -
Thank you for your responses. It is true I was not bullied into it, but took ADVICE . it's not as simple as returning an item of clothing. It is a shame some people have to find it necessary to rude/unkind ie bigbulldog. I was asking a reasonable question. If you felt your time wasted, then you would have been best not to responded at all than look to belittle me0

The problem you have is that advice does not a contract create. You are now at the will of the store who have seemed to have made up their mind, you could ask if you could pay to reselect as they may be able to sell yours off however this could be costly and also down to the store's discretion.0
