First holiday in 10 years- where to go?

Hi, I am completely lost as to where to go for a weeks holiday in the sun.
I need some suggestions please or a few pointers of how to look.
This would be our 2nd ever family holiday....
Thinking about early/mid June 2017

Our family is :-
Husband & wife 60+
2 Sons 19 and 21

Looking for
a beach holiday
All inclusive
Shortish flights (>4hrs)
Shortish transfers
Low level accommodation (not high rise)
Pools and relatively close to clean beach

I have no idea of how to start looking, so any ideas would be really appreciated.
Many thanks

You're late for booking for this June. I'd wait until 8 weeks before.

Greek Islands are nice, Zante is not very built up, but it is fairly basic. Most established resorts are usually built up, unless you want to go to Fuerteventura (its a biosphere and around 4 and a half hours away by plane) where some resorts have restrictions on heights of hotels? Transfers would depend on your resort - I think you need to pick a country first.

You also haven't said a budget which is pretty important.

Thank you, I can't even decide on a country!
I have been looking at Menorca / Majorca but, because it's an island, I was wondering if it would be breezy/chilly in June.

We just need a basic holiday, nothing fancy.
I have about £3,800 to spend but was sort of hoping that there might be some over.

Thanks for getting back to me.

There's some decent holidays to be had in your price bracket. I'd recommend somewhere on the Greek islands, as it seems to tick all your boxes. the Balearics are really built up and usually super high rise, so perhaps not what you were looking for. Possibly Port d'Alcudia - nice hotel there, iberiostar ciudad blanca is worth a look if you can get it in your price if you have your heart set on Majorca, it is a little high rise but an amazing hotel and the beach is beautiful. Plenty to do and see as well, although the transfers are long.

I wouldn't rule out the Canaries though - they are slightly outside your flight time but you get a lot of holiday for your money. Costa Adeje on Tenerife is lovely (there's a fair few famous people who own and holiday there, plus plenty to do), Corralejo (45 mins from airport) and Caleta de Fuste (10 mins from airport) on Fuerte (busy enough to get a good laugh and a pint, but quiet enough if you want it), both have some great excursions, and plenty to do in resort and hotel if you want a chill out. CDF is also really flat in resort, I'm partially sighted and can get round no problem. It's also pretty cheap for both flights and AI hotels, and a package would work really well. I use Barcelo hotels over there, they're always what I'm looking for and never had a bad night's sleep or any dodgy food.

I think you may want to have a look at places first, rule out the ones you're not happy with (trip advisor and google image search give you a basic idea), and then narrow it down to a resort once we have some more of an idea. Personally, I'd go to either Greece (cheap and close for flights), or possibly Malta/Cyprus?

Have a look at Crete, it's lovely that time of year, hot in the day, cooler in the evenings, with plenty of lovely beaches and lots to do away from the hotel if you like history and culture.

All inclusive in Europe is only worth it if you like eating all day long and heavily drinking alcohol.

What will your sons want to do in the evening?
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.

Thanks PeacefulWaters, it has never entered my mind to fly within England. I will definitely take a look.

Thanks peachyprice, I love the Greek Islands and visited Crete a few times in the mid 90's. I thought 18-30's had near enough taken over the holiday market there- Just shows how right I was to ask for help/suggestions

We don't eat or drink excessively but I need the freedom to 'just be'.
My sons will enjoy a few drinks, walks, a spot of fishing and family time.
My older son is heading off to the festivals later in the year and is quite happy to 'chill' as a family

Lanzarote ? only one high rise hotel on the island.
we have stayed http://www.riu.com/en/Paises/spain/lanzarote/clubhotel-riu-paraiso-lanzarote-resort/ a few times including with our sons when they were in their 20's.
Nightlife not far away if they wanted to venture out.
Beach is across the road but not white soft sand

not everyone that goes all inclusive eats all day or heavily drinks alcohol.
  • How about something like this? http://www.thomson.co.uk/destinations/europe/turkey/turkey-antalya/side/hotels/sensatori-resort-sorgun.html

It looks like it'd be in your budget, depending on where you are flying from, how long you want to go for.. Its on the beach, the Sensatori hotels are pretty nice, flight time isn't too far to Turkey. It's also all inclusive for under £3k

I've been to this one in the chain and it was pretty epic - http://www.thomson.co.uk/destinations/europe/spain/tenerife/guia-de-isora/hotels/sensatori-resort-tenerife.html
