Very very old PPI.

I used to have to pay huge amounts of PPI to my bank (as much as 25% of the loan value) because of my age. Or so I was told. This was a long time ago though. I know there is a date limit to what you can reclaim. My loans were 40 years ago, when I was 20! I was told I couldn't have a loan unless I paid an insurance premium. I never defaulted on my loans and paid every one on time and in full. Interested in what the forum thinks of this?

PPI didn't exist as a product forty years ago, I'm afraid.

I'm guessing you are mixing this up with something else entirely.

Regardless, your chances of making a successful complaint about finance from four decades ago are nil.

Banks are only required to keep records in line with data protection, this means they routinely destroy records older than six years on accounts which are closed.

Without any documentary evidence from your own archives, neither of you are likely to get very far.

    PPI is not age rated.

    This is before PPI existed.

Are you sure it was an insurance premium? And if so, are you sure it was PPI?
Could it have been a MIG or arrangement fee?

    MIG would be my guess.

Still far far too late to complain, even if there was wrong-doing.
