I was made redundant. Am I due a tax refund?

Forget about the emergency code for now. The purpose of the P45 is so you have a record of the the pay you received and the tax that was deducted. You don't have this and you should be questioning why.
If you have received two P45s (one from old employer and one from JCP) and they are both blank, you should be questioning it. That is your proof of your pay and tax details,
If your P45 is blank your new employer doesn't have the relevant information to enable them to pay you a tax refund as they will have no idea what your pay and tax is to date.
Once the tax year ends, you'll eventually get a tax refund from HMRC, usually by the end of Sept, however you may be able to claim it sooner but you'll need to wait until the year end to contact them.0 -
Having a month 1 tax code on your P45 from your old employer suggests that there may have been some problem with your tax. Can you give the details of the P45s ie taxable gross in this employment, tax paid and tax code from part 1A of your P45s? Can you advise if HMRC issued the month 1 tax code and details of this? Can you advise if the first P45 included all your earnings or if any payment was made after it was issued?0

OP said all the sections are blank except the tax code0 -
It all sounds a bit of a mess. If you can't get it sorted quickly and easily it might be worth voluntarily entering Self Assessment after April 6th so that you can enter all of the relevant figures and hopefully get your refund paid within a couple of weeks of submission. The downside is that once you're in SA you'll have to stay in until you can convince HMRC to let you out again.0

It's always been my experience that over paid tax when on PAYE has automatically been refunded by the second pay run when starting new employment , it usually takes a month for them to sort out the correct tax code0

I am assuming that the OP is referring to section 7 on parts 2 and 3 of the P45s which were handed in. Part 1A which the OP should have kept should always show the taxable pay and tax paid in this employment at section 8. This section appears only on parts 1 and 1A.0
