Cat thyroid drugs

We have a 13 year old female cat who's developed hyperthyroidism and will need drugs, I assume, for life. This is likely to cost a fortune as there's no insurance for the cat. The actual drug (I assume these are generics) and dose needs to be settled.
Therefore I need to source the drugs as cheaply as possible. Surely these can be obtained from, say, India?
Anyone done this?

At 13 years old she will have many many years ahead of medication....and it is not just the cost of the drug to consider as she will need regular check ups and blood tests too.
For a cat of that age I would seriously recommend surgery to remove the growths. In fact, if it were me I would even pay out for the radio active iodine which costs more but is more reliable as a cure.0 -

You can always ask vet for prescription for say 3 months worth of tablets (you will pay about £10-£15 for prescription, depends on your vet) and then order them online and it normally is way cheaper.
Check the prices on:

Have you looked at hills prescription y/d food? I had two on that and it worked really well. It must be fed exclusively though no other feeds. We bought the dry food and pets at home online were the cheapest last year.0

Hills y/d dry food contains NO MEAT at all and is really not suitable for any kind of long term feeding.
OP, surgery is by far the best MSE option
