    :hello: HELP!! :hello:

I am in a bit of a panic - just booked a holiday to Lanzarote and need to contact the airline ..... KISS - I have discovered they are something to do with Meridian - has anybody travelled with them /or heard of them?

It seems they must be a small company - hope their planes are not the propeller type that you have to wind up .... lol Seriously, they are not the cheapest as I discovered after booking so hope they are good.

Tell me anything you know ...... please.

    Lindy-lou
    Regards

  • Hi,

Kiss are just the booking agent they use Viking Airlines from Sweden who have just updated and are updating their fleet with 737-300 and 737-800s which are fine.

I think some of the XL people are involved with Kiss and have invested in Viking, so no doubt some will be on giving it don't go near them.

I have just booked them from Manchester to Fuerteventura in September and they were much cheaper than the bigger boys like Thomas Cook etc who i would never fly with again after Lanzarote last year.

This is a really great little tool.

I appreciate that the whole point of the tool is that it covers "budget" airlines only, but it's probably worth pointing out that full service airlines can be cheaper / use more convenient airports / have more sensible times.

I've recently flown out to Frankfurt from Heathrow on Lufthansa for only £45 single (booking at one week's notice) when I was being quoted about £60+ for 'budget' flights from Stansted, and from City to Nice for only £120 return (via Zurich) on Swiss, when the 'budget' airlines were looking for £250 (direct) return, or £150 return for a 5am / 10pm flights from Stansted / Luton / Gatwick.

When you consider the additional cost of getting to Luton / Stansted / Gatwick (at least £10 each way by train) versus the cost of getting to Heathrow / City (£2.20 each way on Oyster PAYG), the cost of hold luggage (is it £7 each way now?), credit card fees (although, to be fair, BA still charge these), not to mention unallocated seats, etc - budget airlines can really be quite a false economy.

If I'm flying to a European destination, I always check out BA / Swiss / Air France / Lufthansa / KLM etc, as they are often pretty competitive with the 'budget' airlines, particularly when you factor in the cost of travel to the airport - plus they fly from more accessible airports at less mad times...
  • I'm getting a much lower price on the flight checker than I am when I go to Ryan Air's website and put in the same info?

Flightchecker is not real time - it may be the cheap flights have sold out since it was last updated.
  • Sunday September 20th 2009 Malaga to manchester - the flightchecker suggest 6 flights by Monarch that day - 12.00, 12.35, 1.00, 2.55, 8.25, 8.40 and against them all it says it checked 4 hours ago.

i checked the monarch website 12 hours ago and again now, and both times Monarch only have 2 flights available 12.00 and 8.40. I've checked Monarch's timetable and they only have 2 flights timetabled for this day, so where have the other flights come from? Either i'm missing something, or the flight checker is wholly inaccurate?

    Any suggestions

I'm also finding inaccuracy issues and reported this under another thread. I asked how to go about letting Martin know as the email I sent to the webmaster came back with a canned response about discussing the issue in the forum (not really that helpful). To date I've not had a response about how to contact Martin and/or get the issue fixed.
  • Thanks. I'd say that was pretty unlikely though, since the flight isn't until late October.
  • I would recommend reviewing the Ryanair portion of the flightchecker. As Ryanair has backed out of providing flights to Brussels Charleroi (amongst others) from Manchester from October onwards, I have been stranded with hotel bookings in Brussels and no information whatsoever from Ryanair. The flightchecker still shows these flights as available and (I know it isn't real-time) this may be slightly mis-leading.
The BBC News website has more information.
  • I'm tried searching on flightchecker for Limoges to Livepool free flights but am constantly being told that to complete all information required - I have, time after time. I seem to be in a loop that's not working?

    Help please.
