Emirates miles

My partner and I have about 50000 miles each with Emirates. We want to book a flight from Manchester to Christchurch soon. What are the best ways of using the miles?
A free flight would be ideal but don't think we have enough for that, so is it worth using them to bring down the cost of the flight?

50,000 should be able to get you a return ticket as far as DXB in economy but you would likely have taxes on top so may not be much saving over a cash ticket

Maybe look at their Credit card to top up the miles

Emirates recently introduced a Cash plus Miles option. If you log on to your account before searching for flights, it should appear. I think it works out at 0.008 USD per mile so $400 each if you can use them all. You may have to book separately to use miles from different accounts.


It's not the best use of miles, but 50,000 isn't a lot in the Skywards program.


A different option would be to use them for easyJet flights if you have anything closer to home planned?
