Redundancy Pay and Maternity Cover

A friend of mine has recently been selected for redundancy. She has been given figures for her redundancy package.

At the same time as this there is a position that may become available to her to cover another employees maternity cover.

If she was to accept the role of covering maternity would this stop her entitlement to the redundancy package when this maternity cover came to an end? Or would she still get the redundancy package?

It will depend on the terms on which she is redeployed. If she is given a fixed term contract, she may well lose any entitlement to future redundancy.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

continuity apples to fixed term so redundancy would still be there on a non renewal.

if there is an enhanced package that my not be avaiable as that would be a company policy/contractual option.
  • Thank you for the replies. I guess it will just be a case of waiting to see if she is offered the position and if she is given a new contract or not.
