Hi There,
I need some help, my husband gets paid in Euros. In South Cyprus, Greek side we live in the North, Turkish side. They will not pay into our Turkish bank. I cannot open a bank account in the South as I am not a resident. Has anyone got any reasonable ideas on how we can rectify this situation ? Without it having to go to UK to pay charges and then returned to North with more charges. ? Any advice much appreciated ............. Thank you for reading

Your husband gets paid, but you cant open an account....
Is he paid cash? If so, what's problem with exchanging it?

This just adds more to the confusion...
Do bank transfers not work between South and North?0 -
Do 'south' cards work in 'north' then?
Can Revolut prepaid card be a solution?

How?
He has a bank account in the South? The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
I would suggest that you speak to other members of the local expat community who may be in a similar situation to yourselves rather than asking here.
Presumably your husband is paid in cash. Can he not just carry his wage packet across the frontier in his pocket and exchange the Euros? I am sure the Turkish banks will have no problem in exchanging the Euros.0 -

We cannot open an account in the South as we are residents in the North. No the bank has stated they will not receive a payment from the South. If we try to cross the border with cash there's always a chance they will confiscate it.0 -

They would exchange the Euros at a bureau but chancing the border and confiscating the cash is too high risk.0 -
Well, with cash and without a bank account the only options I see are:
- Western Union
- 'South' prepaid card working in 'North'
- Travel cheques
https://www.hellenicbank.com/en/prepaid/p-card#contentDisplayP-Card for Travelling
Pack a P-Card to take with you on your travels and enjoy the easy, comfortable and secure solution to confusing and sometimes lost foreign currency. You may also give it to your children to use it on their travels.
P-Card for You
P-Card is perfect for the better management of your finances. It may be used at all venues where Visa Electron is accepted, in Cyprus and abroad, and for your Internet purchases.- You can acquire a P-Card without an application and with a 100% approval!
- The total monthly loading amount and the total balance of all cards of the same Cardholder cannot, at any time, exceed the amount of €5,000.
- An entity (individual) is allowed to maintain up to 5 cards.
- The card is valid for two years.

As already asked both on this thread and your original one: what are others doing who are in the same situation? There must be hundreds (thousands?) of people who work in the South and live in the North.0

Maybe you should change your bank. North Cyprus Banks Association say they will carry out money-laundering checks but that they will accept transfers from the South. No the bank has stated they will not receive a payment from the South.
