Locked Out of MSE

NI_BOBS

This user name came up (one I am using!) when I tried to reset my password for my account on here which has 2500+ posts. I think its one I originally had years ago.
Basically what happened .............
I had forgotten password for my usual account as always signed in on personal latop, so went to profile, checked email address was current and reset my password. Then tried to use this new password to log in on phone and its not recognised as thinks I am looking for this BOBS NI account..... when actually I want the account i have been using last 10 years.
(am i making sense??)
Now I have no way of accessing as email address coming up with this old user name
Cant find anywhere on here to reach tech MSE people.
Ideas ???

Your reset password may time out after x number of minutes/hours.

You need to login with the old name, select reset password making sure the correct username and email is in the window and then click the reset link in the email and create a new password.

Making sure the username in each box is the old name you want to recover.

Not been PPR'd have you?

If you use two accounts on same IP/ PC and Browser you will mess up cookies and could get locked out for being considered a spammer.

Now is their a chance that you have a PC where the password was stored in the browser, if so get Lastpass.com installed on that PC and use it suck all the logins and passwords out of the browser.

If you change the email it sends a link to the new email to confirm and you can't post until verification link is pressed.

I wonder if it is the same for the password change, it may have sent a link to the email you can't access but the old login password should still be valid if you can find them.

So try them, if you get in, change the email to one you know works.

Then when verification link pressed and account works then go about password change.

The tech team can't just go around giving out new passwords or anyone could hack your account.

You can always start over!

BOBS logged in today at 8:37pm and no BOBS NI so if not BOBS maybe they were banned?

Forum search is fussy and wont find a username unless the letters are in the correct case If you type BOB it wont find Bob. Strange search..
