Council care home funding

My mother had been in a care home for several years but sadly passed away recently.
As her house had been sold some years ago, and this money was being used to pay for her care. Once tis money reached the statutory limit , she then received funding from the local City Council here in Wales for about 3 years.
Am I right in thinking the council can now reclaim some or all of this funding paid to the care home back from her estate ?

  • Obviously nobody knows the answer to this one. ..
  • Why do you think the council will reclaim the money from her estate if it was already funding her as she had reached the lower threshold.

Do you have an invoice, or was there a contract signed to suggest this?
  • They won't reclaim any money as she was funded by the council when her savings dropped below £14500.

This assumes there were no undeclared assets in the estate. The OP has said that self funding was paid for from only from the sale of her house, if it turns out there were other assets and the estate is over the minimum threshold then yes they could claim some payments back from the estate.
