Wifi Thermostats Controls

Options
Hopefully I've used the correct terms

My girlfriend, mostly due to lifestyle, uses her central heating in a most inefficient way. Somedays she doesn't arrive back to late evening, other times in the middle of the day and she is a girl who likes her heat.

I know you can control your home heating by wifi and a mobile but I'm not sure of what is available.

What she wants is something quite simple. A means of turning her heating on and ff via her iPhone. The central heating boiler and switches are in an outside shed and while the light nights are around the corner it can be a bit off putting

At the moment she is sitting in my house but would like to turn her heat on about an hour before she leaves, the same with work

Can you offer suggestions, a few links or names would be appreciated. All she wants is a simple on/off system

As always many thanks

Kevin

best solution would be a programmable thermostat with web access.
quite a few to choose from.

I got OWL as that can control the hot water separately(time and tempt not just time).

    Hive.
    Evohome.
    Tado.
    Heatmiser.
    ...
do a bit of research and read the manuals

depending on her system some may not be a straight swap of the thermostat.

It's a pretty old system and it's rented accomondation; for a little while yet As you can appreciate she doesn't want to spend a lot of money. Basically all she wants in heat on heat off

their is a standard size of fittings for thermostat controller if you have a relatively recent combi-boiler.
(if its very old,you might want to talkto the landlord about fitting a more efficient combi-boiler, they can still get a £400 discount.)

The thermostat is a simple job for a certified gas engineer to fit and is fully reversible if you move.

I have a lifestyle very much like your girlfriend by the sounds of it!

I had Hive installed about six months ago and its great! It has a really easy interface, and it does heat, hot water and some of my lights, so I don't have to come home to a pitch black house either. I really recommend it.

Its not cheap, but her landlord may consider paying or splitting the cost if she can make a good case for it.
