Never applied my handbrake
Im a little embarassed with my family
, as i am always warning them to drive safely all the time , and to slow down with my precious grandchildren onboard .:D
So after a trip to the local park , i parked my car on my driveway on the level, 10 minutes later a gust of wind moved the car on to a lower part at the edge of the drive, it picked up speed , shot across the road mounted the pavement and made a mess of my neighbours wooden fence & snapped one of the 4x4 posts off at the bottom. so i have had a busy 2 days repairing the fence for my neighbours who are unaware because they are holidaying in Spain , & return on Tuesday this next week.
But my family are giving me plenty of stick about the incident , infact i am going to remove one of my daughter in laws from the will;). I have been sending mixed messages out to all the residents on the street , half of them think my wife as done it , & the other half think ive done it.
I think i am going to relinquish my driving licence , i think that once you get over 60 , you should be made to take your test again:), its the first accident ive had , but like the family have said "but dad you have caused a lot":rotfl:.
It as a very strong easterly wind on Thursday
, thats my excuse and im sticking to it:).

You certainly seem to have eyesight problems judging by the font you're using. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Would taking your test again, make you remember to set the handbrake
Suppose it could, but . . . maybe you just need to tie a knot in the corner of your hanky0 -
You could have a refresher course with an instructor.Je suis sabot...0

Reality is that the OP won't forget again now!
When I read the title I thought they meant they had never applied their handbrake. . . :eek:0 -
Have a chat with your optician & your GP before you do anything ferocious like hand over the car keys.
Self doubt is one thing, burdening your family and restricting yourself as you are victim to one episode is something else again.
If GP & optician see no reason why you should stop, then smile at the humourists & thank them for volunteering to take you grocery shopping twice a week, ferry you to & from the grandchildren, & fetch you home from the pub....0 -
If it is a vauxhall, they are renowned for the handbrake releasing itself if you even touch the button when you apply it. There were a couple of models recalled to fit ratchets that actually worked.
I never touch the button unless I am releasing it, as I like to count the clicks to see if anything needs adjusting.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

My current car (Qashqai) has a very well designed parking brake system, I never have to do anything as it disengages and engages itself automatically.0

You could always try a ROSPA Driver Assessment (checks your driving capability, not your health / fitness).

Almost impossible to forget the handbrake on one of our cars the MB GLE, as soon as drivers door opens, the automatic goes into park and handbrake on0

Many years ago had a Vauxhall chevette. Parked on a hill got out the car to visit local takeaway, got back and the car was gone. Ran home, can't remember last time I ran anywhere, And phoned police. Turned out car had rolled back down the hill in between traffic bollards missing everything. Fined twenty pounds for insecure handbrake, I had pulled handbrake on but getting out of car had relaxed handbrake cables.0
