I am trying to find DIECAST models of all the vehicles that I have owned and have come up with most - except for a Datsun 120Y coupe that I had back in the early 80's
Similar to http://www.carmodel.com/hi-story/hs033wh/1-43/nissan/sunny-coupe-excellent-gx-1973/50782 but not quite !
This could be because it is a fast appreciating classic that nobody has bothered producing a model yet ?
Any suggestions or otherwise as to where one might be sourced - please respond to this.....
Thanks

How close is the 1200GX or GT to the 120Y?

  • In fairness I didn't read model correctly.
  • This has got me thinking if I could get models of all my cars.

I've been collecting them for years. It is really hard to get them in the right colour, so you convince yourself that you will paint them, and never do.

It is also impossible to get the obscure variant that you had like my a60 estate and vectra saloon, and I can't find a die-cast jimny anywhere.

I was sure I'd got a Matchbox 120y coupe, but I can't find any reference to it so I must be confusing it with something else.

There are plenty of model fairs around the country that might be worth a browse. I've tried suggesting new models to various model companies but it's really difficult to get them to take an interest unless it's a really obvious big seller, and if it's they'll probably have thought of it.

I do this as well :)

There is a section on pistonheads for model cars, there is a guy on there who custom makes models - does an incredible job from the pictures. Worth checking out. No idea if he does requests but there are other threads around models.
