Nationwide FlexPlus account question

Hello everyone.
I have searched on the forum but can't find an answer.
I am interested in paying £10 monthly fee for the nationwide FlexPlus account soon as my breakdown cover runs out with the RAC and with the added benefits of this account it looks to suit my needs perfectly.
One quick question (well 2) I have about the mobile phone cover though. It states on the policy:
We cannot cover
• Any incident involving the mobile phone
where you have not taken care of your mobile phone.
This seems like a very vague comment, if I drop and smash my phone would I be able to claim or could they argue I didn't take care of it?
Also both myself and my OH do not have brand new phones, we purchased them on ebay from sellers between 6-12 months ago, would this class as 'proof of ownership' as it states in the policy? Certain I have heard it needs to be a shop/till receipt?
Thanks
