Euro car parks PCN for overstaying while shopping

Hi all
Sorry for starting a new thread, but I've read through the post for beginners and the MSE article, but still unsure on the best approch to take.
I received a Euro Car Parks PCN through the post, stating that the car has overstayed the authorised 120 minutes by over an hour at a retail park (someone got carried away shopping I guess). I do have the receipt from the shop where most of the time was spent and never really realised there's a time limit at this car park (need to check if this is a new thing).
I have previously successfully completely ignored a parking ticket at a different car park, but that was 7 years ago ish. From reading the current advice, I should not ignore if the PPC is a member of the BPA?
What would you recommend I do in this instance? Write to the store manager with the receipt and the PCN number? Or appeal direct to Euro Car Parks? What are the chances they would cancel the PCN, based on the evidence of spending money at the store?
Thank a lot.

completely IGNORE the MSE advice and ONLY FOLLOW the coupon-mad advice in the NEWBIES sticky thread
ypu appeal to ECP using the correct template from that NEWBIES sticky thread
its also a good idea to complain to the landholder or MA , or retailer and get the pcn cancelled asap (this is by far the best method of making it all "go away")
showing patronage of the store is also a great bargaining tool but NEVER reveal who was driving , to ANYONE
and you should ALWAYS APPEAL to the PPC, never ignore a PCN if its from a BPA member or from an IPC member
its after the appeal that you would ignore an IPC member, for a BPA member its POPLA
nobody can predict how this will turn out and anybody that tells you different is a fool , it always varies such that no bookie would give you odds on a cancellation
these "limited stays" are not exactly "new" , thay have been around for several years , especially on retail parks0 -
Thanks RedX.
I spoke to the store manager where most of the time and money was spent in that instance, they have advised that they do not control/operate the car park and it's in fact the nearby Sainsbury's that own the land for the whole retail park.
I've complained to Sainsbury's and will wait for a reply before raising an appeal with Euro car parks. Fingers crossed I won't need to.0 -
excellent , that is the correct course of action
but whatever happens, if there is no cancellation IN WRITING , appeal to the PPC anyway. if the landowner cancels , add that to the appeal without giving away the drivers details
ie:- always make sure, in writing, dont assume people will do as they say0 -
I had no success with complaining to the Sainsbury's manager. They said, they can only cancel the PCN if it the car was parked in the Sainsbury's car park, even though the land for the other car park, where the car was parked, is also owned by Sainsbury's. I couldn't be bothered to fight it further with Sainsbury's at this moment as it was easier to appeal with ECP directly.
I appealed on the ECP website using the template on 26th of February and provided receipts from purchases on the day. I received a confirmation email saying they should respond by post, which could take 35 days.
"The appeals procedure can take up to 35 days from receipt to process and you will be informed in writing ONLY to the address provided (not email)"
Now it's 38 days after I submitted the appeal and I have not heard anything back. Is this a good or bad thing? Should I chase them up? Would be nice to know if I don't have to worry about this anymore!
Thanks0 -
Complain to ALL retailers in the park. Scamming parking companies affect everyone's bottom line, including the kiosks. Two hours is not enough time to do a big shop, have a meal and get your nails done. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

Check your junk emails in case the rejection went there. Now it's 38 days after I submitted the appeal and I have not heard anything back. Is this a good or bad thing? Should I chase them up? Would be nice to know if I don't have to worry about this anymore!
If not, then email and complain to the BPA about ECP not sending a POPLA code:
aos@britishparking.co.uk
HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
