Amazon & PS4 .. faulty?

I believe my PS4 controller is faulty. It has a speed glitch it seems. I wasn't aware but it appears this is a common issue. Just noticed it tonight after playing a COD game & i couldn't sprint.
Thing is i bought this 14 Oct & the 'return window' that amazon notes is 14 Nov. Surely you get more than a month?
I haven't played the PS4 much since i also bought a Wii U & we've used that a lot more, as a result we've only just noticed the PS4 issue. I'm aware this is no excuse but i'm just telling you guys why it's taken so long.
Anyway i'm just wondering where i can go from here, what i should do? I don't really want to go through the faff of returning the whole thing as the PS4 itself is fine. I also don't want to have to buy a new controller through no fault of my own since they're ridiculously overpriced at nearly £50 a go & i've read of brand new ones acting up only weeks later.
What can/should i do here?

When you select the order in my account, and choose the option that relates to a defective item, if you scroll to the bottom of the page there is usually an email contact or chat option available as well as phone call.0
