Bangkok or not?

Can anyone please advise; our trip is almost booked up. After 4 nights in Changmai,a week in Cambodia and a week on Lanta, we have one night left which we had intended to spend in Bangkok, mainly to ensure we are in Bangkok for our flight home and not stranded somewhere, and also in the hope that we could leave our bags at the hotel. We don't fly out till 1.30am, which means we won't need to be at the aitrport till 10.30 the following night. Now eveything I've read makes its seem really hard work geeting to and from the airport and perhaps not worth it for 1 night. We have done Bangkok before so I'm not bothered if we don't stay. Another option would be to stay in Krabi for the last night, and then fly into Bangkok.
Can anyone please advise?
Thanks

I was in Thailand in July and flew in and out of Bangkok. We just got a taxi direct from airport to and from where we were staying with no problems at all. It took less than an hour and cost less than £10 from what I recall.
I would recommend going to Bangkok for the day just to get a good day's shopping in, you can pick up loads of bargains to take home. Most hotels will let you leave your bags there for the day after you've checked out.
It's preference really though, if you don't fancy Bangkok and would rather have a day in Krabi go for that. My only concern would be leaving enough time to get from Krabi to Bangkok if there were any delays, that could mean you end up in the airport for quite a while though.0 -
hey part animal
where you staying in Lanta?
Bangkok is great!! You must visit teh MBK centre, and Siam centre and its 5* food court!! It makes the UK look years behind in retail development!!
Yes stay in BK even just a few hours its an experience.
PM if you like fish see the Ocean World under teh Siam Centre...an amazing experience!!0 -
Many thanks, Bangkok it is then. I did fancy it even though we've been before but the Rough Guide made the airport trip seem like a nighmare,
Atput we're staying at [FONT="]Chaw-Ka-Cher Tropicana Lanta Resort.
Please don't comment if you've heard any bad reviews. It took me ages to find anywhere within budget that wasn't either full or dirty.
I don't suppose you could recommend a hotel in Bangkok, not too expensive but clean and in the right area for shops and night life?
Thanks again

We stayed at the New Siam Guest House11 ( number 2 ) cant recommend it highly enough if you want clean, air conditioned safe hotel that is incredibly cheap. They organised our taxi to the airport from receptionTry and do a good deed every day.0

Thanks Chalky. You've hit the nail on the head for me; clean and safe. I don't spend a lot of time in the hotels. I'm usually out and about but cleanliness is paramount.
Thanks again0 -
i stayed at the Viengtai hotel which costs ~£18 night but clean and safe in the Khao San Road area. Theres a cheaper cleaner hotel a few doors along from teh Vientai which costs about £10/night the name begins with a R. sorry cant remember more....have fun!!0
