Hi there,
I'm doing some financial spring cleaning. I currently have two current accounts one with HSBC and another with Nationwide. My HSBC is currently dormant and mainly use NW account for everything. I really don't need two accounts.
I understand having a back up account is good but I have a joint account with another bank so need to have two single accounts.
So my question is should I keep HSBC and close NW? Or vice versa? I do travel abroad two-three times a year and like using internet banking.
Thanks in advance

If it's working why close any of the accounts? Both accounts have associated banking history which you might need for the future - You never know
. Plus, depending on the type of current accounts you have, you also have access to preferential rate monthly regular savers - Both banks offer 5% at present

Why not transfer for a switch incentive, with associated credit interest, cash back etc?0

It reads as if you are confused (I certainly am!) - do you or don't you?The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
My mistake it should have read so no need for two single accounts0

Thanks for your reply. It is something I have contemplated but no real need for two single accounts.0

Just let one become dormant or use it to stash some money away0

A dormant account that is not needed is worth at least £100, probably several times £100. I would never just close it.0

The short reply would be...
keep the one you LIKE and switch the other for some thing £
Thanks to all0 -
Its up to you,but couldn't you switch the HSBC one to the Nationwide one for cashback? RAF?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
