Pet insurance goes through the roof after a pet reaches a certain age, as you are more likely to claim.
My dogs are both 13 (one 14 next month) and my opinion, together with that of friends, in similar situations, is that, if the ailment is too expensive to afford treatment for (ie not minor) then it would be unfair to put the pet through such treatment and pts the kindest way to go.0 -

Thank you. Yes, I've tried PDSA insurance and it over £100 a month for one cat 😮:happylove Tori Bellatrix :happylove

We had the same problem insuring our cat who is now 20 and still going fairly strong. What we did a couple of years ago was take out 'accident only' pet insurance.
At her age there is no point in putting her through an invasive course of treatment for very little improvement in length or quality of life, but if she was injured it would possible to have the injury treated and let her carry on.
We use Tesco and pay a monthly premium of £9.36 for £3000 of cover. It did start out at a very reasonable £4 a few years ago, but has increased a good deal since then.0
