changing address on provisional photocard licence. do i need to send a photo?

i have filled out the D1 form because i was having issues with changing my info online, but on the form there's a section to stick on your photo.

however, on the booklet provided with the form, it says if you have a paper licence you must send proof of identity and provide a photo. i am applying for changes on a photocard licence, which it states on the form i do not need to provide a photo for.

do the dvla already have your photo on their system from previous licence application? i have dyslexia, so i sometimes get confused with these forms. i want to be certain i have done everything right.

Form D741 that came with your licence. Do you have that?
Otherwise it just says get an application form, but that ones not in the list.

no i don't have that form. it says on gov.co.uk to get the d1 form and then fill out the change address part, which i've done. i crossed off change address, put my gb driving number in the boxes, then filled out my new address, then filled out the box below that which requires my old address info.

i filled all that out, but not sure if i need to send a photo. it says i don't have to on the booklet which came with the form. it only says if i want to change my name i have to sent a photo.

i am wondering, do the dvla already have my photocard details on their system, along with my current photo which they would have photocopied? you can't even call to speak to anyone, it's bloody online and their system is not allowing me to change address via online :mad: for whatever reason i do not know.

my photo licence is still in date until december. i was planning to take my lessons and then my driving test within the next few weeks, but realised i can't take my test until the licence address is changed. bloody frustrating, especially as their system isn't allowing me to do it via online.

"Photocard driving licence
Complete the ‘changes’ section on letter D741 that came with your licence.

Then send both your photocard driving licence and the letter to DVLA.

If you don’t have your D741, order a licence application form to update your address. Order form D1 for cars or motorcycles or D2 for lorries and buses.

If you want to change your photo or name at the same time

Order and fill in a D1 form.

If you’re changing your photo you’ll also need to send:

a recent passport-style photo
a cheque or postal order for £17, payable to DVLA (there’s no fee if you’re over 70 or have a medical short period licence)"

i don't need to change my photo or name though, just change my address solely. surely i just send off the form and they'll send back my provisional, right?

if they aren't asking for a photo or my photocard licence, they must already be able to print off another provisional licence with my old photo already on it.
