I tried some plastic, bubbly stuff from Ikea and it was useless. It just won't lie flat.
Generally I use wallpaper or wrapping paper. It looks pretty!0 -

I like to use wallpaper you can usually pick up an odd roll quite cheap, especially is you can get to a carboot. I got four rolls for 40p a couple of years ago and still have loads left.Slimming World at target0 -

Despite being ruthless with chucking out unwanted things before moving, on several occasions I've found I've thrown away more after I've moved than before.
I guess this is because there's an emotional attachment if I'm assessing items prior to a move, but after moving I see them for what they are - old, slightly damaged, out of character with the new house, etc.
So, while, of course, you should dispose of as much as you can before you move, also take the time to reassess things when you're in your new home. And don't simply stash them in the garage/loft in the off-chance you might use them again. You won't.
AND - in 12 months time, go through everything again. If you've not used something in 12 months you'll not be using it again. It'll give you more space now, and make your task when you move again so much easier.0 -
Not sure if anybody has already mentioned it but if you have pets try to get them looked after for the day of the move:cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0

If you are planning on doing any building work at your new house, bear in mind that you may not unpack all your boxes immediately, so label them on the sides (not the top, because they get piled on top of each other) with the contents, not just the room name. Also, don't use any open crates/boxes unless you want your books or other items covered in dust when the builders start.
I speak from experience...0
