Parking fine 6 months later

I had a parking fine on private land just over six months ago. I replied via email within the period to contest and had an automated response immediately. Haven't heard anything since and this morning a letter has landed at home asking us to pay the fine! Is there a time limit on how long they have to respond to my counter claim? It seems like a very long time ago for them to decide to pursue!

Much more info needed.
Name of PPC.
We can then see if they are BPA or IPC.
Who has demanded the "fine" by letter, how much etc.
The time limit is 6 years normally, but you will need to spell out much more to enable targetted help.

Also tell us which PPC and what this letter says/how is it headed/who from? A random useless debt collection firm?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
