Sainsburys Fuel prices - Policy Change - Extra 3p more expensive

Has anyone else noticed a significant change in Sainsburys fuel pricing?
They have had "local pricing" for a long time but there appears to have been a subtle change recently.
Where I live (east side of Norwich) the large Sainsbury supermarket had always priced fuel within 1p of Morrisons (2 miles away) and Tesco (2.5 miles away).
Shortly before Christmas this changed, initially to be 2p more expensive than Morrisons. Now Sainsbury is 3.5p more expensive than Morrisons 2 miles away.
It appears that Sainsbury now only attempt to compete within 1.5 miles of their store. In my case, this means that they only compete with one expensive filling station.
Has anyone else noticed anything similar in their area?

I have noticed today that unleaded is only 2p off diesel prices at my local BP gone up 1p overnight0

Not specific to petrol but I've noticed Sainsburys aren't competing on price in general.
Lots of products I buy are much cheaper in Tesco or Morrisons when they used to be the same across all 3.
That's why I hardly ever go there apart from to buy their Orange and Mango squash, which is exclusive to Sainsburys.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
Yes, it's happened here in Birmingham in the last week or so, they were previous within 1p either way of Morrisons but are now 3p higher.
Just to add, I don't think it's just fuel, over the last few weeks Sainsburys have noticeably increased a lot of their prices, for example, bakery products that used to be £1 a pack are now £1.10.0 -
Yep I agree. Sainsburys used to be one of the cheapest around but now they are priced the same as the normal filling stations. I just use their free air and water and fill up at Tesco or Morrisons.0

Not just Sainsbury's bakery products, we bought their lamb minty meatballs. £1.85, then £2.00, then £2.20 and now £2.85.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I tend not to get hung up on fuel prices as its all pretty much irrelevant;
50 ltr tank, spend 3p per litre more than a garage down the road = £1.50 more when you fill up.
Your right foot has more influence on how much you spend per mile than the pricing policy of any garage!0 -
In Bristol Sainsburys has been 4p per litre or more higher than other local petrol stations for at least the last month.
They seem a lot quieter nowadays!0 -
I also live in Norwich and have noticed Sains fuel prices have gone up more than others in the area0

I recieved a 7p off when u spend £30 on cleaning products.
So spend £30 on overpriced products to recieve a voucher thats worth 2-3p off in real terms
Norwich Asda diesel this week 118.9
Norwich Longwater sainsburys 123.4.
The voucher went in the bin.0
