switching supplier?

Hi,

My current tariff dont run out until April 16th with sse, but want to switch before prices go up next month without paying an exit fee.
I need to wait until February 27th i worked out to avoid this and wondering if the tariff will be honoured when ring to switch on that day?

Thanks

I am not sure what you mean. There are no guarantees whatsoever that a tariff that is on the market today will still be available on the 27th February. There is no point in asking customer services as they are not told when a particular tariff might be withdrawn.

  • If it takes a minimum of two weeks to switch suppliers (in the main around 21 days), as you have the 14 day cooling off period (which if done today would take you to 3 March), why not do it now?

To my understanding, your new supplier would not contact your current supplier until day 15.
  • Little confused if honest. Put my approx annual usage in on u switch and eon show cheaper than Sse new fixed tariff. But on here it says I'm losing money if switch to this?? Did not know it's so hard work to switch to a cheaper tariff
  • Why not go onto EON's site and check the info there ?

Just to be clear, the date of application to switch and the transfer date are not the same. If you choose a supplier that is signed up to 17 day switching, it will notify your old supplier almost immediately that a switch is in progress. If this notification is received by the present supplier prior to the 49 to 42 day notification period then it has the right to charge an exit fee. My advice, FWiW, is if you want to avoid an argument about exit fees then wait until the supplier has contacted you with notice that your contract is coming to an end.

Perhaps the e-mail was linked to recent tariff change/price increase and it was a general e-mail sent out to all SSE customers.
