Scammed!!!

Hi OP, very sorry to hear about this ..
How much did you lose ??
Lesson learnt , phone numbers are very easily spoofed.
As for the comment that if you call lloyds a scammer could pick up, thats only true in that when you put down the receiver, if the caller DOESNT put down theirs then the line is still active.
If you then dial Lloyds real number, the scammer is still on the line and can pretend to "answer" the call ..
This is an old scam, but the worrying bit about this one is the fact that they knew you had 2 accounts, and the balances on them !!
Are you absoultely sure about this fact ? Is it possible they socially engineered the info out of you during the call ??
eg.
caller : "Can you just confirm how many accounts you have with us ??"
you : "We have 2"
caller : "Yes , that's correct, thank you for confirming those details, you have now passed security"
They are very good at what they do and i would say this is much more likely than them actually having the info ..
I guess this is what Lloyds are thinking too.
I feel for you and wish you the best of luck. Let us know how you get on0 -

Recycled bank statements is another possibility0 -
I do feel sorry for you and hope you did not loose much money but as said before this is an old scam and I can't believe people keep falling for it.
It is no fault of the bank, if there is ever fraud on your account they would just freeze the account end of, not blindly tell you to transfer the money into another account where you had no access to.
Instead of Trump headlining all the news, this kind of thing should be leading the news at least once a day in the evening, everyday to keep reminding people.
Apologies for being harsh, just get mad that these creeps keep getting away with it.0 -
“ This is an old scam
This is a very old scam - much older than I thought! Last week I took my snuffles and my tissues to the sofa, and indulged myself in some afternoon tv. I found myself watching an episode of 'Ironside', an American police drama from the 1970s. The plot was that a sweet little old lady was contacted by the FBI and a bank official because they were investigating a forger working in her bank. They asked her to help by drawing out all of her money in cash, which they would then check to see if it was forged. Seems it wasn't forged (big smiles all round) but as it was too much for her to keep in the house overnight, the bank official would take it and deposit it in the night safe for her. This story had a happy ending, with the bad guys in jail and the sweet old lady getting her money back - but it just goes to show that these scams aren't new at all!0
