If it's school holidays then you'll find many of the universities offer bed and breakfast using their student accomadation (The students and their effects move out).

The accomadtion tends to be of a fairly good standard and the locations are often in great locations.

LSE's Bankside is literally opposite Tate Modern, 100m from Shakespears globe and you can cross the footbridge across the river right onto St Pauls
