We generally avoid places with a lot of parking restrictions but:-

My wife parked at a shopping centre in Dundee. Two hours free, she was there for less than 30 minutes. She has a receipt within the timeframe as she bought shoes from a shop.

UKPC demanded a pay and display ticket be shown however and she didn't know that and didn't get / display one. They're asking for £100 with a discount to either £60 or £80 for early payment. The printing is not clear enough to work out which.

What should we do? Leave it and wait for their next move or contact the shop and ask for it to be waived?

What kind of silliness is that demanding a ticket be displayed for free parking?

It's PPC land! Devise any trap you can to scam money out of victims.

You are in Scotland, as long as they don't know who the driver is you are OK to ignore the Muppets.

yes... Scotland... so ignore completely.

They can only pursue the driver in Scotland
They can only do so if they find out who that is.
That can only happen if the keeper contacts the PPC and drops the driver in it.

Therefore, do not contact the scammers. Period.

First and foremost, you are in Scotland which is not good for PPC's as they need to know who the driver was

Best to go and take pictures of the signage, upload them to free hosting site like photobucket and then show the links here using hxxp not http. As a new member you cannot include links yet

Be aware that UKPC are known to fake pictures so carefully look at any pics they include.

YES, you need to complain to the retailer to get it cancelled. You will not be alone, UKPC has a dreadful name.

It's early days so let us see the pics of the signs and in particular the entry signs.

The rule in Scotland is to ignore and NEVER TALK TO THEM AND NEVER SAY WHO WAS DRIVING.

Ok - I haven't been back to Dundee to take photos, we returned from holiday today and I've received a letter from them.

"parked without clearly displaying a valid pay and display ticket"

"The driver of the above vehicle breached the terms and conditions of parking which were clearly and prominently displayed on our car park signs."

"If you were not the driver (or have sold or hired the vehicle) at the relevant time please provide us with the drivers name and address."

Failure to pay within 28 days will mean £60 is added and it will be sent to a debt recovery agency.

Asking for £100 with a rather poor photo of our car. It says additional images may be viewed online but I really don't want to go there as they will know they have made contact.

There is an appeals process listed.

What should I do now?

What part of the advice to IGNORE from the three posters above is difficult to understand.

Just to revise - There is no POFA 2012 in Scotland, so UKPC can't do anything until they identify the actual driver. So ignore them and their shonky debt collectors - do not engage in their fake appeal process or contact any of them!

I live in Scotland. I wasn't driving and wasn't even in the car, but I am the registered keeper. I got the ignore bit - though I'm not good at sitting on my hands - especially when people are threatening me.

I was also advised to take photos of the signs and to contact the retailer, neither of which I have done.
