Hi all,
I have a broken kitchen unit hinge door like this:
Does anyone know how to fix it?
I can't put it back in as it is too loose so not sure what to do.

New door...
Or, with the door off, fill the holes with a two part epoxy, place the hinge back and pop the screws in. When the glue has set, remount the door. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
Hi FreeBear,
Something like this do the job? http://www.screwfix.com/p/araldite-2-part-epoxy-adhesive-tubes-opaque-2-x-15ml/2457h
Or do you have a better suggestion?0 -
Araldite would do the job - If you use the quick setting stuff, leave it overnight to fully cure. Her courage will change the world.

Hi FreeBear,
Great, do you have a link to the product you are talking about? I Googled it and quite a few different products came up for Araldite so not sure which to get.
Thanks again0 -
The stuff you've linked to will be fine.
Cut a match down and shove a bit in each of the screw holes too.0 -
So to summarise what you guys suggested:
1) Buy the Epoxy Resin
2) Mix it with a match-stick on a card
3) Put it in the holes
4) Leave it for 24hrs to dry?0 -
Yes to the above, except 4 - replace the hinge onto the wet epoxy and wait to dry.
I'd probably use No More Nails (or equiv) myself, which is a bit more straightforward in use, if not as strong. I'd put it both in the large round hole and in the screw holes and then fix the hinge to it. Leave the door open for a couple of hours, possibly wedged to take some of the weight off the hinges.
You could take the door off entirely, but the risk is that the glued-on hinge will come out slightly misaligned to the cupboard.0 -

Sorry, could you explain it other way what you mean by this?
I don't understand what I have to do for Step 4.0 -
You'll be placing a dab of epoxy into the large round hole, and pressing the back of the hinge into it while the epoxy is still wet.
i.e. place the hinge into the door immediately after applying the epoxy - don't wait for it to dry.0 -
Inset nut type D flush with suitable bolts is the best solution to chipboard stripped hinge threads.
Job done in a few mins.
Especially for stuff you might want to dismantle and rebuild.0
