What would people who have had dealings with Sky suggest is the best way to get the best deals ,i have tried the chat twice now but was wondering if phoning them would be more fruitful.

Try, try and try again. That's not being funny btw, you need to be prepared for a bit of a slog. Note down on a new .txt document all offers and quote the best one or combination when talking to them again. If out of minimum term with the TV then schedule a cancellation and hold your nerve. If you really don't want it turned off just call the day before it's due to cancel down and tell them you're just checking before you leave.

In that case quite often Sky have discounted deals for new customers. Combine that with a cashback site and you would get a very good deal.

Deals have also featured quite regularly in this sites weekly newsletter.
