St Davids Hospital, Cardiff -Parking Eye

Options
Hello all

I'm a relative newbie and would like some advice please.

I've been sent a charge notice by post from parking eye for failing to obtain the "appropriate authorisation" to park in the Patient & Visitor car park

I'm about to appeal to the ppc and wondering if I should use the blue template on the sticky thread or follow the one on the pages of the MSE website, in "fight unfair private parking tickets section?"

I was at the hospital for a genuine appointment and do have proof of this and even registered the number plate in reception, no idea why i got the charge notice. The letter i was going to draft basically said this. However on reading the sticky thread, the advice there is to use the blue template.

Is there a reason why for this, is the direct approach/appeal likely to fail??

thanks

Complain to PALS first, as the sticky thread tells you (Google 'PALS'). They will cancel.

If not, never, ever, use the UNFORTUNATELY TRULY AWFUL APPEAL on the pages of the MSE website, in "fight unfair private parking tickets''!! It even says who parked the car!

I know I wrote it myself but the NEWBIES thread is your template advice resource.

I've looked up PALS, they only operate in England. In Wales it seems you have to write to the relative health board, this is copied from their website

    Parking Appeals
Parking TicketCardiff and Vale University Health Board currently has private parking contracts with Indigo and ParkingEye.

These contracts were implemented to manage parking within hospital grounds and to ensure that patients and visitors are able to access the site safely.

Unfortunately, the Health Board is unable to intervene in any Parking Charge Notices (PCN) that a patient or visitor has received from these private companies. Any appeal that the driver wishes to lodge must go through the process outlined on the reverse of the PCN.

    University Hospital Wales

Parking is run by Indigo, and any tickets issued for parking violations will need to go through the company’s appeals process.

University Hospital Llandough, Barry Hospital, St David’s Hospital

Parking is run by ParkingEye, and any tickets issued for parking violations will need to go through the company’s appeals process.

    Staff Parking

The Health Board is unable to intervene in any parking issues raised by staff and any complaints or appeals should be directed to the relevant company to be processed accordingly.

Shall i even bother to write to them!!
Thanks for clarifying which template to use with Parking Eye

I would find out who the Facilities Manager is at that Hospital and ring them and bend their ear. Not nicely, in really assertive complaint mode. Hospital parking in Wales is meant to be free and this regime falls foul of the Government Policy:

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/nhs-car-parking-management-htm-07-03

Ask why that NHS Trust are ignoring the will of Parliament? They will say they are not but if you read the Memorandum in advance, you will that they are...
